By FCF Staff
It looks like the UFC’s upcoming card in Shanghai, China, has picked up a pivotal heavyweight fight, as it’s being reported Sergei Pavlovich will battle Waldo Cortes-Acosta.
Pavlovich (19-3) ended a two-fight losing skid this past February, by recording a unanimous decision win over Jairzinho Rozenstruik. The Russian heavyweight was coming off a KO loss to Tom Aspinall and a decision loss to Alexander Volkov.
According to an initial report from by MMA Latino America, and a follow-up report from MMA Fighting, sources have confirmed Pavlovich and Acosta will fight at the UFC’s August 23rd card in Shanghai.
Cortes-Acosta (14-1), meanwhile, is riding a five-fight winning streak. The Dominican Republic fighter recorded a unanimous decision win over Serghei Spivac at UFC 316 earlier this month.
Currently, Cortes-Acosta is ranked #7 in the UFC’s heavyweight division, and Pavlovich is ranked #4.
