Report: Tatsuya Kawajiri Has Signed With UFC
By FCF Staff
It looks as though the UFC has signed another of Japan’s top fighters, as according to multiple reports, DREAM and PRIDE veteran Tatsuya Kawajiri has reached a deal with the promotion. The 35 year-old featherweight is reportedly hoping to make his Octagon debut at the UFC’s January 4th card in Singapore.
News of Kawajiri’s (32-7-2) signing was reported first by MMA Junkie.
The highly regarded fighter is currently riding a five fight win streak, which includes wins over established vets like Drew Fickett, Joachim Hansen, and most recently, UFC vet Michihiro Omigawa. Kawajiri fought the latter at DREAM 18 last New Year’s Eve, and earned a unanimous decision.
The only men who have defeated Kawajiri in his last ten fights are Shinya Aoki and Gilbert Melendez.
“Crusher” has also scored wins over notable fighters like “JZ” Cavalcante, Yves Edwards and current UFC lightweight contender Josh Thomson during his career.
The UFC has not made any official announcement regarding Kawajiri’s reported signing.
