Report: UFC’s Yuri Alcantara Gets Win Bonus Following Controversial No Contest
Dana White Calls Pedro Nobre “An Award Winning Actor”
By FCF Staff
Although Yuri Alcantara did not emerge from UFC on FX 7 with a victory, technically speaking, the bantamweight was reportedly given his win bonus after his bout with Pedro Nobre was declared a no contest.
The controversial end to the fight came after referee Dan Miragliotta stopped the bout due to what he believed were illegal strikes from Alcantara to the back of Nobre’s head. Nobre was given a few minutes to recover from the blows but said he was unable to continue. As a result, officials ruled the fight a no contest.
Replays showed, however, that Alcantara landed an elbow and several punches to the side and ears of Nobre, but not to the back of the bantamweight’s head.
According to a report from MMA Junkie, the UFC elected to pay Alcantara his win bonus, and UFC President Dana White tweeted after the fight:
“That was BS!!! Pedro is an award winning actor and horrible call by Dan M”
Alcantara (27-4, 1 NC) was coming off a unanimous decision loss to Hacran Dias in June, after winning his first three bouts in the WEC and UFC.
Nobre (14-1, 1 NC) was making his Octagon debut and took the bout on a couple of weeks notice.
UFC on FX 7 took place in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
