UFC Fight Night 67 drew a reported crowd of approximately 3,500 people on Saturday, and following the event, a UFC official cited the country’s economic situation as a reason why.

The card took place in Goiania, Brazil, and during a time when that nation’s economy continues to spiral downwards. The UFC’s general manager in Brazil, Giovani Decker, was asked to comment on the poor attendance at the post-fight press conference (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“We know Brazil is going through an economic crisis,” Decker said. “That reflects in all areas of the economy, so also reflects here in the events. On the other side, in terms of pay-per-view numbers on Combate, we’re reaching historical numbers. If we didn’t do good numbers today, MMA continues to do historical numbers in other sides. We’re doing fine, thanks.”

UFC FN 67 featured Carlos Condit stopping Thiago Alves in the main event.
