Report: UFC Targeting Alistair Overeem – Fabricio Werdum Rubber Match
By FCF Staff
The UFC is hoping to book a rubber match between heavyweight contenders Alistair Overeem and Fabricio Werdum.
The stars fought for the first time back in 2006, under the PRIDE banner, and Werdum won the fight via submission. In their 2011 rematch with Strikeforce, however, Overeem won the fight via unanimous decision.
According to a report from FloCombat, and a follow up story from MMA Fighting, the UFC is targeting its July 8th card for the rubber match.
Overeem knocked out Mark Hunt in his last bout, earlier this month, while Werdum earned a decision win over Travis Browne in December.
The July 8th, UFC 213 card will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
