By FCF Staff
Vinny Magalhaes will fight for the first time in his native Brazil on August 3rd, as the renowned grappler will reportedly take on Anthony Perosh at UFC 163 in Rio de Janeiro.
The light-heavyweight bout was reported first by the Brazilian publication Ataque Total, and then Magalhaes re-tweeted news of the bout on his Twitter account.
Magalhaes (10-6) also acknowledged, via Twitter, that “Fighting in Brazil for the 1st time will be interesting.” Magalhaes has trained with Chael Sonnen extensively in the past, who is a longtime rival of Brazilian superstar, Anderson Silva.
The 28 year-old light-heavyweight is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Phil Davis in April, after tapping out Igor Pokrajac with a second round armbar at UFC 152 in September.
Perosh (13-7) was KO’d by Ryan Jimmo in his last outing, at UFC 149 in July, 2012, but had won three straight before the defeat.
UFC 163 will be headlined by a featherweight bout between champion Jose Aldo and former lightweight Anthony Pettis.
