It was a busy weekend of MMA action and according to reports, WSOF 11, UFC 175 and the TUF 19 Finale all drew strong ratings.
On Saturday, World Series of Fighting’s eleventh event was broadcast on NBC for the first time, and the card reportedly averaged 906,000 viewers (figures according to MMA Fighting.com).
Those numbers far exceed what WSOF cards have been pulling on the NBC Sports Network, which have typically drawn from 200,000 to 300,000 viewers.
The preliminary fights for Saturday’s UFC 175 card also did very well, as the bouts reportedly pulled 1,000,000 viewers for FOX Sports 1. That makes it the most watched, UFC prelims in 2014.
The preliminary line-up featured former WEC champ Urijah Faber in action, who submitted Alex Caceres in the third round.
Then on Sunday night, the TUF 19 Finale also went down in Las Vegas, and that card also pulled 1 million viewers for FOX Sports 1. The card saw the legendary BJ Penn battle former lightweight champ Frankie Edgar for a third time, who won the bout via third round, stoppage.
