Report: Yoshiyuki Yoshida Cut by Titan FC
By FCF Staff
It looks like Yoshiyuki Yoshida’s run with Titan FC has come to an end, before the veteran fighter even competed for the promotion.
Yoshida was scheduled to fight Mike Ricci for the vacant, lightweight title at Titan FC 31 on Friday night. The latter came in two pounds over weight for the bout, however, and the fight was changed to a 157 pound, non-title, catchweight contest.
In a follow up report from MMA Fighting.com, Titan FC CEO Lex McMahon claimed that Yoshida had agreed to the bout, and that Ricci was going to pay the lightweight 20% of his purse.
The 40 year-old fighter, however, reportedly changed his mind and withdrew from the fight.
As a result, McMahon confirmed that Yoshida has been released by the promotion.
Yoshida (17-6) is currently riding a six fight win streak, and the UFC vet hasn’t lost a bout since 2010.
