Rising welterweight Rory MacDonald and accomplished veteran Mike Pyle have “verbally agreed” to fight at the August 6th, UFC 133 card in Philadelphia, according to the promotion’s official website.
MacDonald (11-1) is coming off his most impressive win to date, as the 21 year-old-fighter worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Nate Diaz at UFC 129 in April. The victory returned MacDonald to the winning column, after he suffered his first professional defeat at the hands of Carlos Condit last June.
Pyle (21-7-1) has won three straight bouts which includes wins over Jesse Lennox, John Hathaway and most recently Ricardo Almeida. Pyle’s last defeat came in January, 2010, when he was stopped by Jake Ellenberger in the second round at UFC 108.
UFC 133 will be headlined by a light-heavyweight bout between former champ Rashad Evans and undefeated prospect Phil Davis.
Some of the other bouts that have been confirmed for UFC 133 include Jorge Rivera vs. middleweight Alessio Sakara, welterweight Dennis Hallman vs. Brian Ebersole and another 170lb. tilt between Mike Pierce and Johny Hendricks.
