Sean O’Malley Releases Statement Following UFC 306 Defeat
By FCF Staff
Following Sean O’Malley’s clear cut loss on Saturday at UFC 306, the now former bantamweight champ has apologized to his fans for his performance.
O’Malley was repeatedly taken down by Merab Dvalishvili in the fight and out struck by a margin of 214 to 49. The latter was awarded the fight by all three judges after 25 minutes of action.
Since then, “Sugar” posted the following message to his fans via social media.
“Over promised under delivered. Sorry. Love you guys.”
At UFC 306, 29-year-old O’Malley (18-2) was competing for the second time since he won the bantamweight title in August, 2023, by stopping Aljamain Sterling. O’Malley defended the title in March, by recording a unanimous decision win over Marlon “Chito” Vera.
