Shakur Stevenson Cruises Through WBC Lightweight Title Defense
By FCF Staff
Shakur Stevenson cruised through Artem Harutyunyan to defend his WBC lightweight title on Saturday. But, the undefeated boxer’s performance likely won’t silence critics who were looking for a more emphatic victory or finish.
Stevenson faced Harutyunyan in Newark, New Jersey and worked his way to a unanimous decision victory with scores of 119-109, 118-110, 116-112. With the victory, Stevenson moved his overall record to 22-0 (10 knockouts).
The fight was the 27-year-old’s last on his Top Rank Boxing contract.
Harutyunyan, who was coming off a decision loss to Frank Martin, saw his record fall to 12-2.
