Sherk-dunn Bouthighlights Minnesota Trials
From the event’s promoter: Sherk-Dunn Bout Highlights Minnesota Trials BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Sean Sherk, who scored a convincing win in his UFC debut two months ago, is the feature fighter at the Minnesota Trials on Friday at the Knights of Columbus hall. Sherk, who beat Tiki Gholson in the UFC, is from Oak Grove, Minn., and has an 11-0 record in NHB competition. He will face Extreme Challenge veteran Brian Dunn of Omaha, who has a 25-3 record, including wins over UFC fighters LaVerne Clark and Travis Fulton. Another feature bout on the card pits Greg Wikan, a RINGS USA veteran, against Ron Rumpf of RSF fame in a heavyweight bout. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the first bout is set for 8 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door or call Brad Kohler at 651 489-0921. The Minnesota Amateur is a qualifying event for the U.S. MMA Nationals, which are scheduled at the end of the year. Fighters compete in five weight divisions — 150-under, 170-under, 190-under, 210-under and heavyweight — with the winners from all the Trials advancing to the Nationals. |
