Siyar Bahadurzada Injured, Matt Riddle Stepping in to Fight Chris Clements at UFC 149
By FCF Staff
Siyar Bahadurzada is the latest fighter who has been forced to withdraw from the upcoming July 21st, UFC 149 in Calgary, Alberta. As a result, the promotion has announced that welterweight Matt Riddle has agreed to step in for the injured fighter to face Chris Clements.
The UFC did not offer any details as to what the nature of Bahadurzada’s injury is. The Golden Glory fighter was originally a replacement for the injured Yoshihiro Akiyama, who had been scheduled to fight Thiago Alves, who is also no longer on the card due to injury.
Riddle (6-3) is coming off a split decision win over Henry Martinez at UFC 143 in February, after dropping back-to-back bouts to Sean Pierson and Lance Benoist.
Clements (11-3) is coming off a successful Octagon debut; at UFC 145 in April he scored a split decision win over Keith Wisniewski to extend his win streak to five.
UFC 149 will be headlined by a bantamweight bout between Urijah Faber and Renan Barao to determine the promotion’s interim champion.
