UFC Vegas 109 has picked up a pivotal, flyweight fight, as recently the promotion announced Steve Erceg and Alex Perez will battle on the August 9th card.

Erceg (12-4) is looking to snap a three-fight, losing streak, which started with a unanimous decision loss to champion Alexandre Pantoja in May, 2024. Since then, the Australian contender has dropped bouts to Kai Kara France and most recently, Brandon Moreno.

Perez (25-9) is also looking to return to the win column, as the American incurred a TKO loss (due to a knee injury) against Tatsuro Taira in June, 2024. The American has gone 1-4 in his last 5 bouts. But, all of his other defeats during that stretch have also come against top tier competition in the likes of Pantoja, Deiveson Figueiredo, and Muhammad Mokaev.

Currently, Perez is ranked #7 in the UFC’s flyweight division and Erceg is ranked #9.

UFC Vegas 109 will be headlined by a middleweight fight between Roman Dolidze and Anthony Hernandez.
