Superstar Ricco Rodriguezreturns To Japan

SUPERSTAR RICCO RODRIGUEZ Mixed Martial Arts Superstar and current "King of the Cage" World Heavyweight Champion Ricco Rodriguez returns to Japan to fight for the Pride Organization at THE PRIDE FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS: RETURN OF THE WARRIORS on Sunday, August 27, 2000 at the Seibu Dome in Tokyo. Rodriguez, fresh from an impressive win over Gary "Big Daddy" Goodridge, will face the powerful Japanese grappler "Giant" Ochiai. A 260-pound shoot fighter, Ochiai presents a difficult match-up with his superior striking ability and strong ground game. Also coming off of an impressive performance recently at the Ultimate Boxing event, Ochiai looks to go for the upset against the American. "He’s a great fighter," says Rodriguez, "but I’ve been training hard for him and I’m looking forward to the challenge." Ricco Rodriguez versus "Giant" Ochiai is just one great match on a Pride card loaded with superstars. Also scheduled to fight are such champions as Ken Shamrock, Mark "The Specimen" Kerr, the powerful Russian Igor Vovchanchyn, Japanese legend Kazushi Sakuraba, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu specialist Renzo Gracie. |
