Gervonta “Tank” Davis remains the WBA lightweight champion following a controversial, majority draw with Lamont Roach on Saturday.

Roach, who was a massive underdog on the betting lines, nearly handed Davis his first defeat. Two judges scored the fight 114-114 and one judge had it 115-113 for Davis.

But, in the ninth round, Davis inexplicably took a knee and had his corner wipe his head with a towel. The star did not have permission to in effect, take a timeout, and no knockdown was called.

Following the fight, Davis said he is hoping to rematch Roach. In recent months, the 30-year-old champ had said he may not fight for much longer.

On account of the draw, Davis no carries a record of 30-0-1. The 29-year-old Roach holds a record of 25-1-2.

Watch the highlights.

Saturday’s card took place in Brooklyn, New York.
