It remains to be seen where and for whom Tony Ferguson will fight next. But, due to a recent comment from the former UFC interim lightweight champ, some are wondering if “El Cucuy” could be competing outside the UFC.

Following the 40-year-old’s eighth straight loss in August, which came against Michael Chiesa, there were calls once again for Ferguson (25-11) to retire. UFC CEO Dana White also stated he hoped the longtime contender would retire. The outspoken fighter stopped short of doing so, however, and more recently Ferguson posted the following comment on Instagram.

Ferguson, who at one point was riding a 12 fight winning streak, hasn’t won a bout since 2019.
