Toronto’s Air Canada Centre Booked for December 10th, UFC 140

After the UFC broke North American attendances and gate records with its Toronto debut in April, there was little doubt that the promotion would return to the Canadian city sometime soon. Well today, UFC officials have announced that they have booked Toronto’s Air Canada Centre for a December 10th, UFC 140 card.
No information regarding the card’s main event or any other bouts was given.
The UFC made its Ontario debut in April and drew over 55,000 fans to the city’s Rogers Centre. The UFC 129 card, which saw welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre defeat Jake Shields by decision in the main event, recorded a live gate draw of over $12 million U.S.
The Air Canada Centre, however, is a much smaller venue than the Rogers Centre and can host approximately 20,000 fans. The facility is the home of the NBA’s Toronto Raptors and the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs.
