Tyron Woodley Believes Nick Diaz Deserves to be in UFC’s Hall of Fame

As speculation about Nick Diaz fighting again continues to make the rounds, Tyron Woodley’s made the case for Diaz to be added to the UFC’s Hall of Fame.
Recently a video of a slim looking Diaz was shared out and his manager reported the star recently completed a test weight cut, in preparation for a comeback next year. The 37-year-old Diaz hasn’t fought now since 2015.
In advance of Woodley’s bout this Saturday with Colby Covington, the former welterweight champ had this to say about Diaz, while speaking with TMZ(quotes via MMA Fighting).
“If he comes back to the sport, I think it will be good to have another household name back in the sport competing,” Woodley said. “But if he doesn’t, he doesn’t. I think he’s done enough in his career, in my opinion, to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.”
“I think (he deserves it), because he was one of the original bad boys,” Woodley said. “There’s some people in the Hall of Fame that had never won a world title, whether it’s just a fight, there’s so many different categories of it. But when you think about it, he came over from Strikeforce, he had a crazy reputation then, and I think you’ve got to take some of that into account when you’re thinking about a Hall of Fame inductee. They bought the organization, they bought the rights to all those fights, so I think the accolades have to come with that.”
Diaz (26-9, with 2 no-contests) is coming off a no-contest against Anderson Silva in 2015, which followed consecutive bouts to Carlos Condit and Georges St-Pierre. Prior to that, however, Diaz had won nine straight.
The run included winning Strikeforce’s welterweight title and defending it three times.
