Tyron Woodley Chosen #1 in GFL Draft

The Global Fight League held its draft Friday, ahead of the promotion’s inaugural season, and Tyron Woodley was chosen first overall.
The former UFC welterweight champ, who hasn’t competed in MMA since 2021, was picked by Team Dubai. Sage Northcutt was chosen by Team Los Angeles second overall and former Bellator middleweight champ, Gegard Mousasi, was picked by Team London with the third pick.
Former UFC heavyweight champs Junior Dos Santos and Fabricio Werdum were picked by Team Miami and Team Sao Paulo, respectively, with the #4 and #5 picks.
Kevin Lee was picked by Team New York with the final pick of the opening round.
Multiple former champs and notable contenders were also picked in the following rounds, some of whom included Chris Weidman, Alexader Gustafsson, Douglas Lima, Anthony Pettis, Tony Ferguson, Holly Holm, Yoel Romero, Benson Henderson, Mauricio Rua, and Urijah Faber.
