Tyron Woodley Provides Timeline For Return, After Undergoing Shoulder Surgery
By FCF Staff
Although Tyron Woodley recently underwent shoulder surgery, the UFC’s welterweight champ believes he could be ready to fight sometime in early, 2018.
After Woodley defeated Demian Maia in July, the accomplished wrestler revealed that he had re-injured his shoulder in the fight. Following his recent surgery, Woodley told TMZ Sports the following (quote via MMA Junkie):
“I had orthoscopic surgery on my right shoulder,” Woodley said. “My shoulder was beat up a lot more than what they thought. I had bone spurs in there. They had to tack down my labrum and clean out some other stuff. I’m going to come back as the bionic man…”
“With the stem cell and (platelet rich plasma injections), the new technology and science, I’m going to be fighting in the first quarter of next year. In two months, I’ll be punching something.”
Leading up to last weekend’s UFC on FOX 26 card, Dana White said the winner of Robbie Lawler – Rafael dos Anjos would advance to a bout with Woodley. Dos Anjos won the contest via unanimous decision.
