Last week UFC 160’s Mark Hunt reported that visa issues had prevented him from traveling to the U.S., and during a media call today to promote the May 25th card, it was revealed the heavyweight still hasn’t left. The New Zealand born fighter is scheduled to fight Junior dos Santos as the event.

Hunt had hoped to fly out this past weekend after UFC officials began working on the problem, however, the issue has still not been resolved. Despite the fact Hunt is still in Australia, UFC Director of Communications Dave Sholler stated during today’s call:

“Our team is working through that issue and we anticipate Mark making his way to the United States this weekend.”

Sholler was asked later in the call whether the UFC has a back-up plan in place. The communications director relayed that the promotion does not, because they are confident Hunt will be able to make the fight.

Hunt has stated that the visa issues stem from an incident that took place in 2002, which according to the heavyweight did not involve him committing any crime.

The feared striker, who is currently riding a four fight win streak, has competed in the U.S. several times since 2002.

UFC 160 will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
