UFC 170: Rashad Evans Out of Co-Main Event
By FCF Staff
Less than two weeks away from when it will take place, UFC 170 has lost its co-main event, as Rashad Evans has been forced to withdraw due to a leg injury.
The former light-heavyweight champ was scheduled to fight Daniel Cormier at the February 22nd card, which will be hosted by the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
Although the UFC’s official announcement didn’t include any specific information regarding Evan’s injury, Yahoo’s Kevin Iole is reporting that the fighter will not require surgery.
The promotion has announced that no replacement opponent will be sought for Cormier, as a result of the short notice.
Evans (19-3-1) hasn’t fought since UFC 167 in November, when he quickly stopped Chael Sonnen.
UFC 170 will feature bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey taking on Sarah McMann in the main event.
