UFC 172: Jon Jones Ends Glover Teixeira’s Win Streak With Clear Cut Victory
By FCF Staff
Jon Jones once again demonstrated why he is one of MMA greatest fighters tonight at UFC 172, by scoring a clear cut win over light-heavyweight contender Glover Teixeira.
In a fight that was spent almost entirely on its feet, Jones utilized various types of kicks, elbows and punches to earn a unanimous decision win over Teixeira. Although Teixeira landed a few hard shots during the bout, the champion never appeared to be in danger of being stopped.
With the loss, Teixeira’s awe inspiring, 20 fight win streak came to an end. Jones, on the other hand, has won 11 straight bouts.
In the co-main event, Anthony Johnson made the most of his UFC return, by outscoring Phil Davis for the UD win. Johnson repeatedly thwarted the takedown attempts of Davis, and punished the renowned wrestler with strikes.
