UFC 182: Daniel Cormier Outlines What Jon Jones “Doesn’t Understand”
By FCF Staff
Many fans and pundits believe Daniel Cormier is Jon Jones’ toughest test to date due to his world class wrestling game and well rounded skills, but the challenger says his ability to overcome adversity is another key reason.
Cormier will challenge the light-heavyweight star tomorrow night at UFC 182, and while discussing the bout recently with UFC.com, the 35 year-old contender noted:
“I’m not supposed to be here,” said Cormier, who has faced challenges and tragedies throughout his life, including the passing of his infant daughter over a decade ago . “I’ve been somewhere where I couldn’t see any hope, any reason for living. That’s what people don’t understand. That’s what Jon Jones doesn’t understand. I had to pick up a broken man and rebuild him. And now I have this chance to do something special.”
“That’s why I’m going to win this. Life has taught me that you can’t give up. Ever. I’m not going to lose this chance. I can’t.”
The American Kickboxing Academy fighter is coming off a choke-out victory over Dan Henderson in May, and has gone 15-0 in professional MMA to date.
UFC 182 will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the main card will be broadcast via pay-per-view.
