UFC 184: “Kid” Yamamoto Booked for Octagon Return

Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto

By FCF Staff

It looks as though UFC 184 will mark the first time Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto has fought in three years, as the Japanese star has reportedly agreed to fight Roman Salazar at the upcoming event.

UFC 184 will be hosted by the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on February 28th. The Yamamoto-Salazar bout was announced recently by the UFC’s Japanese website.

Yamamoto (18-6) hasn’t fought since February, 2012, when he was submitted by Vaughan Lee at UFC 144. The Japanese bantamweight, who at one point was widely regarded as one of the sport’s best fighters, has lost three straight.

Salazar (9-3) made his UFC debut in October and was tapped out by Mitch Gagnon.

UFC 184 will feature a middleweight fight between champion Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort in the main event. Bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey is also scheduled to fight Cat Zingano.
