UFC 192: Daniel Cormier Narrowly Gets by Alexander Gustafsson in Thriller
By FCF Staff
Just as he did with Jon Jones in 2013, Alexander Gustafsson pushed Daniel Cormier to his limits tonight at UFC 192, but the challenger failed to secure the light-heavyweight title.
Cormier constantly pressured Gustafsson throughout the fight, and punished him in the clinch, but the latter out struck the champ from the outside as expected. The challenger even managed to take the decorated wrestler down a couple of times. At one point, Gustafsson floored Cormier with a huge knee.
Cormier never let up, however, and appeared to out strike Gustafsson in round five. After the thrilling fight the champ was awarded the split decision win, and Cormier proceeded to praise Gustafsson for his warrior spirit.
