UFC 195: Dustin Poirier Plans to “Spoil” Joe Duffy’s Party
By FCF Staff
There is no shortage of hype following Joseph Duffy these days, and according to Dustin Poirier, it’s another reason why he’s looking forward to their bout on Saturday.
Poirier will finally face Duffy at UFC 195, after their initial bout in October was postponed when the latter incurred a concussion. Duffy has gone 2-0 in the UFC to date, and was widely considered to be one of Europe’s top prospects before arriving in the promotion.
Recently Poirier spoke to UFC.com about Saturday’s match-up, and while discussing the buzz that’s behind Duffy, he stated:
“Oh, I’m ready for Joe alright,” Poirier said. “I love this part of the game, when all eyes are on my opponent and all the media is heaping praise on the next guy, because then I get to spoil his party. That’s always my goal – to go out there and beat somebody up and make them fall short of what they’re trying to do. Because they’re trying to do the same to me.”
It should be noted that Poirier has also been drawing considerable praise in recent months. Since he elected to return to lightweight, following a loss to featherweight champ Conor McGregor, Poirier has scored consecutive, stoppage wins.
UFC 195 will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
