UFC 202: Dana White Weighs-In on Donald Cerrone’s Future, After Latter Calls For Bout With Eddie Alvarez
By FCF Staff
Following Donald Cerrone’s impressive win over Rick Story at UFC 202, the popular fighter called for a rematch with lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez. But, clearly UFC President Dana White would rather see Cerrone make a title run at 170.
Cerrone stopped Story in the second round on Saturday, and in doing so, collected his third straight win fighting at welterweight. After the win, Cerrone relayed that he wants to fight Alvarez at UFC 205 in November. Cerrone decisioned Alvarez in September, 2014.
During the post-fight show on FOX Sport 1, White was asked to weigh-in on Cerrone’s future, and the UFC President said this (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):
“I don’t like 155. I like 170. Nobody does that to Story. I’d like him to stay at 170.”
Cerrone challenged Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight title this past December, but was quickly stopped by the latter. Prior to the defeat, “Cowboy” had won eight in-a-row.
