UFC 203: Alistair Overeem’s Ready to Face Stipe Miocic in His Own Backyard
By FCF Staff
Although Alistair Overeem will be facing Stipe Miocic in his own hometown of Cleveland, and in the UFC’s first trip to the Ohio city, the veteran says it won’t play a factor in their title fight.
Overeem has been booked to fight the newly crowned, heavyweight champ at the September 10th card, following his stoppage win over Andrei Arlovski in May. Recently the Netherlands’ fighter spoke to Bloody Elbow.com about the upcoming fight, and while discussing the support Miocic will receive, Overeem said this:
“Everyone approaches it differently. For me, it doesn’t matter, I’ve had eighty-six fights, I’ve fought for crowds that loved me, I’ve fought for crowds that didn’t love me. To me it’s another fight. It doesn’t really matter.”
The former Strikeforce, DREAM and K-1 champ is currently riding a four fight winning streak. Miocic, meanwhile, secured the heavyweight crown in May by knocking out Fabricio Werdum.
