UFC 208: Miesha Tate on Why Germaine de Randamie Will “Overwhelm” Holly Holm
By FCF Staff
Saturday’s headliner between Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie features two of the UFC’s most decorated strikers, but Miesha Tate believes the stand-up skills of the latter, will rule the day.
Holm and de Randamie will fight in the main event of UFC 208, which will determine the promotion’s first, women’s featherweight champ. On the latest “UFC Tonight“, former bantamweight champ Miesha Tate was asked to weigh-in on the bout, and here is some of what she had to say (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):
“She needs to throw punches in bunches,” said Tate, while discussing de Randamie’s keys to victory. “She needs to get inside and muddy up the water.”
“Her striking is too well rounded. She has all eight points of deadly contact. She’s going to overwhelm Holly. She’s more powerful and when she engages, the punches that land are going to count more.”
De Randamie, who is a multi-time, Muay Thai champion, has scored two straight wins since she was stopped by Amanda Nunes in 2013.
Holm, a multi-time boxing champ, is coming off consecutive defeats to Tate and Valentina Shevchenko.
UFC 208 will take place in Brooklyn, New York.
