UFC 224: Lyoto Machida Says Five Round Battle With Eryk Anders “Was Exactly What I Needed”
By FCF Staff
Although Lyoto Machida was unable to score a decisive win at UFC Fight Night 125, “The Dragon” sounds fine with how his bout with Eryk Anders went.
Machida faced Anders on February 3rd, and ended a three fight losing skid, via a split decision victory. In advance of his bout this Saturday with Vitor Belfort, Machida had this to say about his five round battle with Anders (quote via UFC.com):
“It was exactly what I needed,” Machida said. “It was a long fight and I was able to show that I still have a lot of stamina and I’m still able to hang in there. Obviously, I wanted to finish the fight, but Eryk is a tough guy and it lasted all five rounds.
“Even though I’m turning 40 this month, I’m still competitive,” he added. “I still want to go out there and show great results. I’m not just fighting for money or anything like that; I’m a very competitive guy and I want to see the results in the cage.”
Machida and Belfort will fight on the main card of UFC 224, which will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
