UFC 225: Dana White Discusses Yoel Romero’s Future, Following Latest Weight Cut Miss
By FCF Staff
If Yoel Romero does defeat Robert Whittaker tonight at UFC 225, Dana White believes the powerful wrestler’s future should be at 205, rather than 185.
Romero is facing the middleweight champ in the headliner of the Chicago event, but due to the fact he missed weight yesterday, he cannot win the title. Romero came in at 185.2 on his second attempt, and as a result, he did not hit the championship weight mark. The Cuban star also failed to make weight for a short notice bout with Luke Rockhold in February.
Following the UFC 225 weigh-ins, White was asked about Romero’s future while speaking with the media, and the UFC President said this:
“If he wins, I think he should move up to 205 pounds, fight the number one contender, to see who fights for the title.
White was asked if a bout between Romero and perennial, light-heavyweight contender Alexander Gustafsson would make sense, and he responded with “I like it.”
