UFC 225: Rafael Dos Anjos Calls Colby Covington a “Worse Version” of Conor McGregor
By FCF Staff
Colby Covington has made headlines in the last year or so, via controversial statements and trash talk, but Rafael dos Anjos swears the verbal warfare won’t work on him.
The welterweights are scheduled to fight for an interim title, June 9th, at UFC 225. During a recent media call to promote the card, RDA had this to say about Covington (quote via MMA Fighting):
“I grew up in Brazil in the favelas, man. Bullies, trash talking, doesn’t work with me,” dos Anjos said. “But I think Colby, he’s just trying [to be Conor McGregor]. Conor does it well. Conor, he’s a rich man, he makes a lot of money. He’s a businessman, and I can respect that. But Colby, he’s just a worse version of Conor McGregor. He’s trying to be like Conor, but when he loses to me, his career is done. All he has is talk, nothing else.”
Dos Anjos has gone 3-0 now since he returned to the welterweight division, and he’s coming off a dominant, decision win over Robbie Lawler. Covington, meanwhile, has won five straight and decisively defeated Demian Maia in his last bout.
UFC 225 will take place in Chicago, Illinois.
