UFC 231: Max Holloway Continues to Insist He’ll be Ready & on Weight
By FCF Staff
Max Holloway has continued to field questions about his health and his ability to make weight for his latest title defense. Bur the UFC’s featherweight champ continues to insist he’ll be ready for Saturday’s bout.
Due to Holloway’s well-documented withdrawal from UFC 226 earlier this year due to health issues, and because he cuts a lot of weight to make 145, there’s been extensive speculation about whether he’ll make weight on Friday. But, while talking to the media on Thursday, “Blessed” had this to say in response (quotes via MMA Junkie):
“I can’t wait,” Holloway said. “We’ve got one more day, we weigh in tomorrow morning, make weight, and I get back to my cupcake tasting.”
“Whatever mindset, whatever he says, that’s him,” Holloway added, while referring to Ortega’s concerns that the champ won’t be able to fight. “I have no control over what he can say. At the end of the day, I’m going to show up. We see what happens when I show up. When we’ll be in the octagon, I can’t wait to see him.”
Holloway hasn’t competed now since last December when he stopped Jose Aldo for a second time. UFC 231 will take place in Toronto, Ontario.
