UFC 241: Derek Brunson Comments on Ian Heinisch, Says Rising Middleweight’s Been “Getting Beat”
By FCF Staff
Ian Heinisch has needed just two UFC bouts to join the promotion’s top ten ranks at 185. But it doesn’t sound like Derek Brunson’s terribly impressed with what he’s seen of the fighter.
Brunson (19-7) has been booked to fight the #10 ten ranked middleweight this Saturday at UFC 241, after Heinisch (13-1) has scored decision wins over Cezar Ferreira and Antonio Carlos Jr. in his first UFC fights. But, when Brunson was recently asked to comment on his next opponent, the #8 ranked middleweight said this (quotes via MMA Junkie):
“I’ve seen (Heinisch) in fights, and he’s been getting beat,” Brunson said. “I saw his second fight, and he was losing the fight. All of a sudden, ‘Shoeface’ (Junior), as he always does, he gets tired in fights. He’s one of those guys you can break.
“It wasn’t really more of Ian broke him. He just broke.”
Brunson, meanwhile, is coming off a decision win over Elias Theodorou in May, after dropping consecutive fights to Israel Adesanya and “Jacare” Souza.
