UFC 246: Diego Ferriera is Hunting For “Good Submission” Against Anthony Pettis
By FCF Staff
Diego Ferreira has showcased improvements in his striking game over his last few fights. But the third degree, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt is hoping to remind the MMA world of his submission skills tonight.
Ferreira has been booked to fight former lightweight champ Anthony Pettis at UFC 246 today, after winning five straight bouts. While talking about tonight’s match-up recently, Fereira said the following (quote via MMA Junkie):
“That’s what I do the most. I’m a fighter that puts a lot of pressure, moving forward, don’t care like how to get hit, just moving forward, but I still have jiu-jitsu, and I really want to work my jiu-jitsu a little bit too and get some submissions,” Ferreira said. “Because from the past few fights, I’ve just been looking to prove a little bit my strikes, and I already did it. Now it’s time to go out there and try to use my jiu-jitsu and get him in a good submission.”
The 35-year-old Ferreira is coming off a decision win over Mairbek Taisumov in September. The 32-year-old Pettis (22-9), meanwhile, lost via decision to Nate Diaz in his last bout, which took place in August.
