UFC 307: Alex Pereira Confirms Sean Strickland to be Part of Utah Camp
By FCF Staff
Alex Pereira has moved his training camp from Connecticut to Utah in advance of his October 5th fight with Khalil Rountree, and “Poatan” has confirmed Sean Strickland will be helping him prepare. Pereira typically trains out of Glover Teixeira’s gym in Danbury.
The Pereira – Rountree fight will headline UFC 307, which is taking place in Salt Lake City.
The UFC’s light-heavyweight champ recently confirmed the news via his YouTube channel (quotes via MMA Fighting.com).
“The thing about the altitude is that it’s hard [to train],” Pereira said. “We did this once when I fought [Jan] Blachowicz. We did it for two weeks then, and three weeks now. I think it’s going to be much better.”
“We have a great team here. “We have Glover, Plinio [Cruz], Yousri [Belgaroui], ‘Cesinha’ [Cesar Almeida]. Sean Strickland is also coming next week to train with us here. I’m very happy with this preparation.”
Pereira stopped Strickland in the first round of their 2022 bout. The former middleweight champs have trained together before.
“Poatan” will be looking to defend the light-heavyweight title for a third time, as Pereira (11-2) is coming off a stoppage win over Jiří Procházka in June.
Rountree (13-5) has won five in a row and stopped Anthony Smith in his last outing, which took place in December.
