Sean Strickland talked about fighting to the death ahead of UFC 312, and vowed the outcome would be different in his second bout with Dricus Du Plessis. But, the outspoken middleweight offered no new looks, in what turned out to be a clear cut loss to the champion.

Du Plessis was the more aggressive fighter throughout the contest, and fired various punches and kicks at the challenger. In round four, Du Plessis badly broke the nose of Strickland, who was already bleeding from the mouth before absorbing the painful punch.

Du Plessis, who took the middleweight title from Strickland via split decision last January, was awarded the rematch by all three judges.

In the co-headliner, Zhang Weili defended her strawweight title with an impressive decision win over Tatiana Suarez. Weili was larglely able to negate the wrestling game of Suarez, and outstruck the challenger by a wide margin.
