Calls for a rematch between Alex Pereira and Magomed Ankalaev are already making the rounds, and it sounds like the UFC will pursue one.

Ankalaev took the light-heavyweight title from Pereira in the card’s main event, by working his way to a unanimous decision win. Ankalaev rocked Pereira in round two, but that was the only juncture in the competitive fight that a finish almost materialized.

While talking to the media afterward, White was asked for this thoughts on the bout. The UFC CEO relayed that he was expecting “more shooting. I expected a lot more exchanges” (quotes via MMA Junkie.com). When asked about the judges’ decision, White acknowledged he thought Ankalaev won the fight.

Further, White was asked if an immediate rematch could be tabled and the executive said “probably”.

Pereira (12-3) had won five straight fights heading into UFC 313, which included three title defenses of the light-heavyweight belt.

Ankalaev (20-1) has now gone undefeated in 14 straight fights.

UFC 313 was hosted by the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
