Sean O’Malley vowed his second bout with Merab Dvalishvili would unfold much differently than their first one. But, it was the bantamweight champ who provided a much more dominant performance at UFC 316.

After O’Malley had some success early on negating the wrestling and top game of Dvalishvili, the champ ramped up his efforts in round three. As the end of the round approached, the relentless fighter secured a painful-looking, ninja choke, which forced O’Malley to tap.

Dvalishvili took the bantamweight title from O’Malley in September via a unanimous decision win.

In the co-main event, Kayla Harrison added more gold to her trophy case by ending Julianna Pena’s reign as the bantamweight champ. The former PFL lightweight champ and Judo Olympic Gold Medalist submitted Pena with a kimura from the top position in round two.
