UFC Champ Johny Hendricks Discusses Return, Desire to Rematch GSP
By FCF Staff
It remains to be seen when and who Johny Hendricks will face in his return, but it looks like the UFC Welterweight Champion doesn’t have a preference, in terms of an opponent.
Hendricks, who continues to recover from surgery to repair a torn bicep, weighed in on his next fight while talking to “UFC Tonight”. When asked about who he’d like to fight next, the powerful wrestler stated (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):
“I don’t care,” said Hendricks, while referring to a division which will see Matt Brown face Robbie Lawler, and Rory MacDonald fight Tyron Woodley in the coming weeks. “I’m going to have to fight one of them. It doesn’t matter.”
When asked if he still thinks about his controversial, decision loss to now former champ, Georges St. Pierre, Hendricks noted:
“I don’t. I’d love to have a rematch. But if he never came back, it wouldn’t bother me. I’m trying to make my own legacy.”
Hendricks laid claim to the promotion’s vacant welterweight title in March, by handing Lawler a unanimous decision loss.
