Cory Sandhagen returned to the win column at UFC Des Moines on Saturday, by recording a stoppage win over former flyweight champ, Deiveson Figueiredo.

During a grappling exchange in round two, bantamweight contender prompted the referee’s intervention, by advancing from the top and injuring Figueiredo’s knee. Sandhagen followed with punches from above and the fight was stopped.

Sandhagen (18-5) was competing for the first time since he lost via unanimous decision to Umar Nurmagomedov last August. Figueiredo (24-5-1) was coming off a unanimous decision loss to former bantamweight champ, Petr Yan in November.

The main card also saw former ONE light-heavyweight and middleweight champ, Reinier de Ridder (20-2), stop decorated wrestler Bo Nickal (7-1) in round two. As de Ridder pressured forward, he put the undefeated Nickal down with a hard knee to the body.
