UFC Exec Says Promotion Still Investigating Incident Between Fabricio Werdum & Colby Covington

It’s been several days since the highly publicized altercation between Fabricio Werdum and Colby Covington in Australia, but a UFC executive says the promotion is still investigating what took place.
Last week, video surfaced of Covington and Werdum arguing, before the latter threw a boomerang at the welterweight. Covington also posted video of him arguing with the Brazilian star, which included Covington using a homophobic slur. The American also claimed that Werdum punched him during the incident, which Werdum has denied. The latter has been charged with common assault.
Following UFC Fight Night 121 last night in Sydney, UFC executive David Shaw reported the following (quote via MMA Fighting):
“From a company standpoint, we’re still collecting as much information as we can,” Shaw said. “We spoke to Werdum and his team, we spoke to Covington, we spoke to the hotel security, we spoke to police. So we are not at a point to make any conclusions yet, it’s just too early. There’s still a process that we need to go through. And listen, at this point it’s in the hands of the New South Wales Police, and I think Werdum’s going to have some conversations the next few weeks with them.”
Werdum fought Marcin Tybura in the main event of UFC FN 121, and won by unanimous decision.
Following Covington’s decision win over Demia Maia last month, the welterweight contender called Brazilian fans “filthy animals”.
