UFC FN 129: Kamaru Usman Says He’s Only Focused on Demian Maia, Not Colby Covington
By FCF Staff
Kamaru Usman has exchanged words with Colby Covington many times in recent months, and has claimed the latter is avoiding a bout with him. But, as UFC Fight Night 129 arrives, Usman reports he’s only focused on defeating Demian Maia in a convincing matter.
Usman will face Maia in the headliner of tonight’s card, which will take place in Santiago, Chile. Recently Usman was asked if his desire to make a big statement tonight has anything to do with his issues with Covington. “Chaos” recorded a one sided, decision win over Maia in October.
The welterweight had this to say in response (quote via MMA Junkie):
“No, it has nothing to do with him. He’s behind me,” Usman said. “I don’t even worry about him. All I worry about is the task at hand, and that’s Demian Maia and putting on a spectacular performance.”
Usman, meanwhile, earned a decision win over Emik Meek in his last bout, and has won 7 straight in the UFC.
