UFC FN 130: Darren Till Thinks Stephen Thompson Was “Forced” Into Accepting Bout

Stephen Thompson and Darren Till will fight next Sunday in the headliner of UFC Fight Night 130, but the latter doesn’t believe “Wonderboy” really wanted to accept the match-up.

Till started campaigning for a fight with Thompson after he quickly finished Donald Cerrone last October. At the time, Thompson’s manager and father argued that Till needed to face other top welterweights first, before securing a bout with his #1 ranked son.

The fight was, however, eventually booked, and more recently, Till said this while speaking to MMA NYTT (quote via MMA Mania):

“I think ‘cause [Thompson] didn’t want to take this fight he’s been talking a bit more out of tame lately,” Till said. “Not bad, ‘cause you know, he’s not a sh-t talking, he’s not a bad person, he’s a nice guy. But just ‘cause I feel like he was forced into this fight he didn’t want to take it. But he’s still comin’ and he’s comin’ to beat me on home turf and we’ll see, mate.”

Thompson, meanwhile, is coming off a decision win over Jorge Masvidal in UFC.

UFC FN 130 will be hosted by the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England.
