UFC FN 130: Neil Magny Outlines Why he Wants Bout With Kamaru Usman Next
By FCF Staff
After Neil Magny took out Craig White at UFC Fight Night 130 on Sunday, the welterweight called out Kamaru Usman, and it looks like the move was all business, rather than personal.
Magny finished White in the opening round of their bout, as he dropped the UFC newcomer with a knee and finished the fight with punches from above. White was stepping up on short notice for the injured Gunnar Nelson.
In his post-fight interview, Magny relayed he wants to fight Usman next, and then the contender also said this (quote via MMA Junkie):
“He’s proved himself to be a great fighter so far,” Magny said. “He’s got a lot accomplished in the division right now. He’s in the top five now, so it makes sense for me to want to call out a guy who’s actually proven himself time and time again rather than someone else. So if it ends of coming through, I’ll take the fight. If not, we’ll see what happens.”
Magny has gone 3-2 in his last 5 bouts, and heading into UFC FN 130, he was ranked #9. Usman, meanwhile, has won 12 straight and is currently ranked #5.
