UFC FN 136: Mairbek Taisumov’s “Tired of Asking For The Top 15”
By FCF Staff
Although Mairbek Taisumov has won five straight bouts, the lightweight hasn’t landed a top 15 ranked opponent, and the Russian fighter’s evidently tired of it.
Since joining the UFC in 2014, Taisumov (26-5) has now gone 6-1, and he’s finished the last five fighters he’s faced. Today, at UFC FN 136 in Moscow, he’ll take on the always tough, Desmond Green.
In a recently article posted at UFC.com, the 30 year-old had this to say about his calls for a top ranked fighter.
“I’ve challenged many ranked fighters and I’m already tired of asking for the Top 15. I’m gonna continue knocking out people and soon they’ll have no other option. My visa issues have been a major problem as well, but after this fight, hopefully my paperwork should be done, and I have a certain feeling that after this fight the UFC will be under pressure to give me a ranked fighter. I won’t disappoint them and I’ll show them that it’s a long time overdue that I belong at the top.”
Green (21-7), meanwhile, has gone 2-2 in the UFC to date, and is coming off a decision win over Gleison Tibau.
