UFC FN 79: Yoshihiro Akiyama Still Hasn’t “Found The Goal” of Fighting Career
By FCF Staff
Yoshihiro Akiyama has scored several memorable wins throughout his fighting career, but the Japanese star says he still hasn’t reached his main goal.
The 40 year-old fighter is scheduled to fight Alberto Mina at UFC Fight Night 79 this Saturday in Seoul, in what will be his seventh fight in the UFC. Akiyama returned to the Octagon last September, after a year plus break, and decisioned Amir Sadollah. The victory ended the Judoka’s four fight losing streak.
Recently Akiyama spoke to UFC.com, and when asked what he’s chasing at this stage of his career, the fighter stated:
“I haven’t found the goal yet,” said Akiyama. “I will try my best until I find my goal.”
And when asked to comment on the fact he’ll be competing on the UFC’s first card ever in South Korea, Akiyama added:
“I feel happy and think it’s a really excellent opportunity to have a bout in my other home country”
UFC FN 79 will be headlined by a welterweight fight between Benson Henderson and Jorge Masvidal.
