UFC FN 85: Neil Magny Says Hector Lombard is “Just Another Guy in my Way”
By FCF Staff
Neil Magny may be booked to face one of the more powerful and experienced welterweights on the UFC’s roster this weekend, but the rugged fighter doesn’t seem fazed by the challenge ahead.
At UFC Fight Night 85 on Saturday, Magny will take on former Bellator middleweight champ, Hector Lombard. The fight will mark the first time Lombard has fought since last January, when he decisioned Josh Burkman. That result, however, was overturned, after Lombard tested positive for PEDs.
Recently Magny spoke with UFC.com about the upcoming fight, and while discussing the dangerous Lombard, he stated:
“I don’t even look at it like [Lombard] has all this knockout power and no one wants to fight him,” Magny said. “I look at him as just another guy who is in my way of getting what I want, and that’s a shot at the title. If I have to beat a big name like Hector Lombard to get a top five opponent next, then that’s what I have to do. For me it’s all about opportunity, and Hector is that next opportunity so you bet I’m going to take it.”
Magny has gone 9-1 in his last ten fights, and the only man to defeat him during that run is fellow contender, Demian Maia.
UFC FN 85 will take place in Brisbane, Australia.
